July 23, 2011 "Top Gun Trap / Skeet Shoot"- Jefferson County Izaac Walton - Leetown, WV Minimize

Even with the temperature soaring towards 100o, the 27 participants in the 2nd Annual “Top Gun” competition enjoyed themselves, as they shot for a good cause.  The event was hosted by the Leetown IWLA Gun Club, Leetown, WV on Saturday July 23, 2011 and all of the proceeds went to benefit the Patriot’s Path Foundation and military veterans.

The shooters competed for 3 overall prizes.  The winner of the 2011 “Top Gun” Award was John Crawford who had a combined trap/skeet score of 91.  John also won the individual skeet competition with a perfect score of 50.  Jim Butler won the trap competition with a score of 49.   Noah French was first in trap, skeet and overall to win all of the classes in the youth division.

The participants enjoyed a delicious BBQ pork lunch with all the trimmings, prepared by the Patriot’s Path staff.  We would like to thank the members of Leetown Gun Club, all of this year’s shooters and the volunteers from the Foundation, for making this a great event, despite the weather.

The next stop on the Patriot’s Path shooting circuit will be in Centreville, VA on September 10th, for the 3rd Annual Julie Ingram Open/Invitational “Pull For Our Heroes” Trap Shoot at the IWLA Club.  Please save the date on your calendars and come to compete as a team or an individual.
